Through the collective impact of nearly a century of work, the firm has made an indelible mark on the contemporary landscape.About the RoleSCB is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage the firm's financial reporting process. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this role involves working with a team to record, monitor and maintain SCB's day-to-day financial activity and operations in accordance with established accounting principles, policies and objectives.As our Senior Accountant, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring our financial operations run smoothly and strategically. This is an on-site position based in downtown Chicago, with the expectation of working in the office four days per week-ideal for professionals who value both flexibility and connection. Your responsibilities will include:

• Driving the month-end and year-end close process to deliver timely, accurate financial results.
• Preparing and analyzing the monthly financial statement package and income statement variance reports to provide actionable insights.
• Managing monthly account reconciliations and general ledger maintenance with precision and care.
• Assisting in the development of SCB's Annual Budget and supporting the annual 401k audit with essential schedules.
• Leading the preparation of state and local tax filings, including Illinois Sales and Use Tax.
• Designing and refining business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with US GAAP.
• Identifying opportunities to enhance profitability and reporting efficiency, sharing innovative solutions with the team.
• Tackling special projects and preparing ad hoc reports to support our Director of Finance.What You'll BringWe're seeking a detail-oriented, analytical thinker who's a true team player. Here's what you need to succeed in this role:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (required).
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience (preferred).
  • Experience with Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint software (preferred).
  • Proficiency in US GAAP and strong knowledge of general ledger, payroll, and financial analysis functions.
  • Advanced MS Word and Excel skills-think pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and beyond!
  • Proven problem-solving skills, persistence, and a knack for identifying innovative solutions.
