looking for a talented Staff Mechanical Engineer to develop the
next generation of lightweight electric vehicles and micromobility
infrastructure. Our fleets need to be safe, comfortable,
affordable, and fun to provide reliable transportation options for
cities across the globe. Designing, building, and operating our own
hardware is a strategic advantage that allows us to innovate in
this growing market and provide a superior user experience. Lime is
expanding our engineering team to execute on a multi-year product
roadmap vision.This role is based in the SF Bay Area where Lime has
its San Francisco Hardware Development Lab in SOMA. It is a hybrid
role, but it will require you to be in the office as needed for
prototyping and testing, which are a regular part of our work.What
You'll Do:
- Define, design, and deliver breakthrough lightweight electric
vehicles and/or shared micromobility infrastructure (e.g. battery
packs or docking hardware)
- Own the development of multiple parts or subsystems
concurrently
- Create detailed and elegant mechanical designs in CAD
- Build prototypes in our metalworking and 3D print shop
- Listen to the needs of our Operations team and strive for
simplicity in our designs
- Devise tests and proof of concepts to demonstrate and validate
new ideas and drive data-based decision making
- Conduct root-cause investigations to support improvement of our
designs
- Define, create and release technical documentation using
GD&T best practices and our product lifecycle management
system
- Brainstorm creative solutions to mechanical, manufacturing, and
reliability problems
- Work with external vendors and internal teams across the
world
- Support vehicle builds at Asian CMs (likely 2-3
trips/year)About You:
- BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering (or similar), or equivalent
experience
- 10+ years of mechanical design work experience with a portfolio
of products you have taken from concept development to mass
production
- Experience as the technical lead or owner of major subsystems
for a product
- High proficiency in CAD software and best practices (SolidWorks
preferred)
- Experience designing plastic and metal parts for a range of
manufacturing processes
- Proficient at conducting tolerance analysis and creating
engineering drawings using GD&T to ensure assembleability
- Comfortable in a fast paced environment and adapting quickly to
new requirements
- Desire to work hands-on to prototype and validate new
designs
- Curious, collaborative, and hardworking
- Excited about the future of MicromobilityPreferred
Qualifications:
- Bike or other vehicle industry experience
- Skilled at FEA simulation
- Talented at CAD surface modeling
- Track record of driving engineering execution at a system level
and bridging functional domains
- Experience working with overseas suppliers
- Proficiency in Mandarin
- Welding experience
- Demonstrated expertise in designing robust and durable products
capable of withstanding harsh environmental conditions and

is $144,000 - $220,000. Annual performance bonus, equity and
benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package,
depending on the position offered. Not all candidates will be
eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will
ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the
candidate's location of residence, the successful candidate's
skills, experience and other qualifications. In addition to base
salary, some roles may be eligible for a variable performance-bonus
based on a combination of company performance, employee
