About the RoleOur data science and analytics team's mission is
to deliver accurate data products and actionable insights that
enable decision-making and drive business growth. And, in this
team, you'll play a key role in building the data foundation for
this team. It is not often that you get the opportunity to build
something from scratch, but here you will design, implement and
support our first data mart. You will work closely with our data
science and analytics team to understand how data is leveraged and
with the data engineering team to understand our data sources. This

is a solutions-focused data engineer or analytics engineer with a
strong track record in fast-paced startup environments, building
scalable data models and integrating data from diverse sources.
Proficient in dbt, command line, and Git, they apply software
engineering principles like testing, code reviews, and CI/CD to
ensure efficient, scalable data solutions. They excel in
maintaining data quality, troubleshooting pipeline issues, and
documenting processes to support internal teams. As a collaborative
problem-solver, they thrive on tackling ambiguous challenges with
creativity and adaptability, working cross-functionally to make
meaningful contributions while continuously expanding their skill

Statsig, Fivetran, AWSWhat You'll Accomplish
- Partner with our data science and analytics teams to deeply
understand their work. Integrate data from various first and third
party sources and build value added data marts to support the
analytics needs and BI platform needs of our internal teams.
- Architect performant, accurate, and scalable dimensional data
models using dbt and DRY (don't repeat yourself) principles.
- Work with data engineering and our data science and analytics
teams to optimize the BI user experience and our data warehouse
cost efficiency.
- Drive data catalog rollout by engaging with subject matter
experts (SMEs) to document business, product and engineering data
definitions.
- Set up tests to ensure data quality, monitor daily job
execution, and diagnose/fix issues to ensure SLAs are met with
internal stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with data pipelines
urgently and thoroughly.
- Produce documentation that enables data scientists to leverage
dbt to create their own transforms.Hinge Health Hybrid ModelWe
believe that remote work and in-person work have their own
advantages and disadvantages, and we want to be able to leverage
the best of both worlds. Employees in hybrid roles are required to
be in the office 3 days/week. The San Francisco office has a
dog-friendly workplace program.Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of data engineer/analytics engineer experience with
focus on data modeling, data integration, master and metadata
management, and analysis.
- 2+ years of production experience with dbt and some of the
other portions of our analytics stack.
- 4+ years of experience working with SQL and Python.
- 1+ years of experience working with Airflow.
- Experience in designing & implementing data warehouse models
[dimensional, one-big-table, etc.], ELT, and ETL processes in a
data lake ecosystem.
- Experience designing and developing SCD models from multiple
log/audit file sources.Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in C.S. or equivalent experience.
- Experience building data infrastructure on AWS.
- Experience with Mode.
- Prior DBA experience.
- Understanding of the tradeoffs between various data modeling
approaches.
- Prior experience with healthcare data (PHI/PII/HIPAA).
- Prior experience working with Apache Spark & Databricks.
- Extensive NoSQL knowledge.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and
verbal.CompensationThis position will have an annual salary, plus
equity and benefits. Please note the annual salary range is a
guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on
factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work
location. The annual salary range for this position is
