With a global presence, we have offices here in Canada, the UK, Taiwan, Australia and Germany.MISSIONThe Solutions Engineer is part of the Proposals team that develops marine navigation and bridge systems for OSI's government and naval markets. The Solutions Engineer plays a critical role in the development of the overall system requirements' design and definition for OSI's complex products. The Solutions Engineer will execute various engineering functions throughout proposal and business development. The incumbent has experience in working with various organizations and system components (software engineering, hardware engineering, integration and test, production, manufacturing and logistics) and can take on the technical lead of a proposal.RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyzes the technical/system requirements in Request for Proposals (RFP) received by the Proposals Department
• Develops preliminary (strawman) solutions, ROM costings and compliance matrices that are used for preliminary pricing assessment in response to Request for Proposal (RFP)
• Develops design concepts/solutions and generates technical proposal material that will be used in proposals in response to RFPs
• Interacts with other groups of the organization to gather information required for solutions and costings
• Supports the Business Development Managers on technical solutions, materials and reviews that may be needed as part of the Capture Plan and post-proposal activities for bids
• Participates as technical solution SME in bid/proposals/costing/pricing reviews as required Assists System Engineers working in technical solutions for proposals on the development and review of system designs, functional analysis, systems architecture, and interfaces
• Performs requirement analysis, traceability and maintenance of requirements when required
• Designs to government standards, including Military and IMO standards, ensuring ongoing compliance and adherence to requirements, as required
• Ensures availability, reliability and other logistics support considerations are part of the system design process
• Reviews obsolescence issues and recommends design changes
• Works in both a team environment and independently with minimum supervisionKNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Technical or Engineering studies or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 2 years' experience in marine electronics and/or integrated bridge systems; experience in defense or government domain preferably in naval ship sector a significant asset
  • Proven track record in the timely delivery of assigned tasks/projects
  • Strong knowledge of marine navigation and tactical sensors or systems
  • Excellent knowledge of Solutions Engineering principles, standards and best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Knowledge of in network design, architecture as well as safety engineering and human factors engineering is an asset.
