About the RoleIn this role, you will provide architectural and big picture oversight for the development of new or enhanced platforms, applications and solutions that will transform the way our customers interact across our retail channels.You will be a hands-on architect/leader (player/coach) who will be responsible for:

  • Leading and defining the architectural vision and strategy, develop roadmaps aligned with business goals and technology strategy.
  • Ensure a seamless customer experience by creating a streamlined end-to-end solution design, ensuring quality and consistency of our software architecture across systems.
  • Lead architecture governance by establishing and enforcing architecture principles, standards and best practices for retail solutions. Drive design reviews and ensure designs are consistent across various portfolios.
  • Cultivate strategic long-term partnerships with business and technology senior level stakeholders.
  • Build a high-performing architecture team, provide mentorship across various architecture disciplines including technical architecture and business architecture ensuring alignment with enterprise goals.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration between architects, product owners, program management and engineering to deliver seamless retail solutions.
  • Establish an end-to-end operating model process with key partners and stakeholders across engineering, product management and program management that works in a SAFe Agile methodology as well as hybrid methodologies.
  • Lead Product Selection using an established methodology bringing together multiple cross-functional business and technology stakeholders resulting in product and platform alignment.What You'll DoStrategic Leadership & Retail Technology Governance
    • Define Retail Technology Roadmap - Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture strategy for in-store and omnichannel retail systems, ensuring alignment with business goals.
    • Drive Retail Innovation - Evaluate emerging retail technologies such as AI-powered customer analytics, smart fitting rooms, and mobile POS solutions.
    • Architect Resilient & Scalable Retail Systems - Ensure retail applications can handle high transaction volumes, seasonal spikes, and global store expansions.
    • Retail Data & Analytics Strategy - Enable real-time insights across stores, warehouses, and e-commerce to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
    • Governance & Compliance - Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS, GDPR, CCPA, and other regulatory standards for retail transactions and customer data.Retail POS & Omnichannel Experience
      • Lead POS Transformation - Oversee the modernization of POS systems to support mobile payments and seamless omnichannel experiences.
      • Enable Unified Commerce - Design solutions that integrate online and offline channels, enabling BOPIS (Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store), BORIS (Buy Online, Return In-Store), and Endless Aisle.
      • Enhance Payment & Loyalty Systems - Architect secure and flexible payment solutions, including digital wallets, BNPL (Buy Now, Pay Later), and loyalty integrations.RFID, Inventory Management & Supply Chain Optimization
        • RFID & Smart Inventory Management - Implement RFID and IoT-based inventory tracking for real-time visibility of stock levels, reducing shrinkage and improving accuracy.
        • Omnichannel Inventory Fulfillment - Design inventory systems that enable ship-from-store, curbside pickup, and real-time stock replenishment.
        • Optimize Supply Chain Integration - Align store inventory with distribution centers and suppliers for efficient order fulfillment and replenishment.Loss Prevention, Fraud Detection & Security
          • Loss Prevention Technology Strategy - Deploy AI-driven fraud detection, CCTV analytics, and RFID-based anti-theft solutions.
          • Monitor Shrinkage & Theft Patterns - Implement predictive analytics and reporting tools to identify high-risk stores and mitigate losses.
          • Enhance Store Security - Ensure systems support biometric authentication, access control, and secure POS transactions.
          • Combat E-commerce & Returns Fraud - Integrate fraud detection tools to prevent abuse of return policies and chargeback fraud.Digital Store Experience & Customer Engagement
            • Smart Store Technology - Architect interactive retail experiences, such as smart mirrors, digital fitting rooms, and AI-driven personal styling recommendations.
            • Personalized Shopping Journeys - Enable omnichannel personalization using AI, CRM integrations, and loyalty programs.
            • Augmented & Virtual Reality Integration - Explore AR/VR solutions for virtual try-ons and immersive in-store experiences.Leadership & Team Development
              • Lead a team of talented architects, focusing on fostering a collaborative and innovative environment, encouraging growth and recognizing achievements, ultimately creating a high-performing and successful team.

                • Hands-On Enterprise, Solution or Business Architecture leader with extensive understanding of omni-channel architectures in the retail space.
                • Expert on solving complex technical problems at senior levels leveraging experience with related technology stack and platforms.
                • Strategic ability to present and align architectural vision internally and externally at senior levels.
                • Influential and seasoned leader able to navigate complex situations to consensus and align architectural vision at senior levels both internally and externally.
                • Proven and demonstrable experience leading digital transformations in the retail domain in a complex environment.
                • Strong leadership abilities, including the ability to develop talent and build a high performing team; strong influencing skills and ability to work successfully with peers; a true team player.
                • Ability and willingness to not only manage and mentor a team but to also create roadmaps and high-level designs.
                • Experience working with, creating and managing off-shore teams and managed service providers to deliver architecture excellence.
                • Experience integrating in-store and online experiences (e.g., BOPIS, BORIS, curbside pickup, etc.)
                • Experience designing highly scalable IoT solutions is a plus.
                • Experience in the retail and apparel industry is preferred.
                • Knowledge of AI-driven customer personalization, inventory forecasting and predictive analytics is a plus.
