Hourly rate may change based on shift length.-$1053.00 in non-taxable stipend*Actual amount subject to eligibility and seasonal/annual adjustmentsA Brief Overview: The Speech Pathologist is a therapist who performs routine patient care and is responsible for all clinical aspects of assigned patient care including evaluation and treatment with supervision as needed. The Speech Pathologist is proficient in providing basic clinical care however is expected to ask questions and collaborate with senior speech pathologists when evaluating and developing treatment plans for complex cases with multiple diagnoses or who have multiple treatment options. Proficient in evaluating all patients assigned and developing a treatment plan which is agreed upon by the physician patient and/or caregiver. The SLP provides diagnostic evaluations and treatment for patients with communication disorders including speech hearing and language problems articulation voice and fluency utilizes and educates patient/caregivers in use of augmentative and alternative communications systems when indicated evaluates and treats cognitive deficits and conducts clinical and videofluoroscopic swallow assessments. The SLP may oversee and guide patient care responsibilities of Rehabilitation Aide and speech pathology interns and may contribute to program development performance improvement and other specialized programs. What you will do: - Assesses and treats patients within CA licensing Board and American Speech-Language-Hearing Association scope of practice provides direct patient care that meets department and professional standards of practice - Examines evaluates and treats patients with communication disorders including speech hearing and language problems articulation voice and fluency evaluates and treats cognitive deficits and conducts clinical and instrumental swallow assessments via videofluoroscopy. - Develops implements and modifies therapeutic interventions to alleviate communication cognitive and swallow impairments selects and administers appropriate assessment and treatment techniques performs age appropriate competency skills in area of practice and with respect to individual patient's problems with fundamental skills in clinical reasoning problem-solving and interventions - Determines magnitude and impact of impairments prognosis plan of therapeutic intervention and appropriate frequency/duration of interventions. - Organizes and maintains a patient caseload that meets/exceeds department productivity standards schedules patients and informs manager if barriers arise. Ensures documentation and billing are timely accurate and complete including assessment plan of care precautions progress or change in status participation by patient and family in goal setting delivery of care and discharge plan. - Discharges patient from treatment when appropriate with adequate discharge planning including documentation of discharge recommendations and family training and communicates this appropriately to patient family and health care team. - Participates in interdisciplinary care planning including participation in rounds and patient care conferences communicating with and teaching other care providers contacts community agencies as necessary to provide continuity of service between hospital and community. - Participates in Department team and discipline and/or unit meetings. Education Qualifications - Graduate of an approved Speech Language Pathology curriculum with either a Master's or Doctorate degree Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities: - Knowledge and adherence to Code of Ethics and performance standards of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association - Knowledge of available equipment and vendors used in assigned area - Knowledge of basic business aspects of position such as utilization management charging practices and regulatory practice compliance - Knowledge of evaluation and treatment methodologies as applied to routine patient care - Knowledge of legal issues affecting the clinical practice - Knowledge of pathologies and injuries which result in speech language cognitive and swallowing disabilities - Knowledge of principles methods equipment and theory of the practice of clinical specialty - Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing - Ability to evaluate patients and interpret clinical data and make clinical judgements - Ability to develop and document clearly and accurately treatment goals that are realistic measurable appropriate functionally based and that include patient/family input - Ability to develop implement and adapt treatment programs - Ability to evaluate patients and interpret clinical data and make clinical judgments - Ability to progress treatment based on professional standards of practice and on the needs of the specific individual including age and developmental considerations cultural and psychosocial issues precautions and medical condition - Ability to utilize sound clinical reasoning to determine appropriate patient intervention demonstrate good safety awareness judgment and problem solving - Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others Licenses and Certifications: - SLP - Speech Language Practitioner - BLS - Basic Life SupportPosition: Speech-Lang PathologistSpecialty/Modality: Speech-Language PathologyLicenses/Certifications: NPI NUMBER, State License-Speech Therapist-California, CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support)Physical Abilities: Up to 20lbsFor the most prompt response, please APPLY ONLINE.As always, there is never a fee for candidates to utilize our services.Aureus Medical Group - Therapy Job ID #761-24-2875037.
