Job Description:
The Mission Neighborhood Health Center is a non-profit,
multi-site community health organization offering comprehensive
health services in the Mission and Excelsior Districts of San
Francisco. The center offers primary health care services, adult
medicine, pediatrics, family planning, OB/GYN, HIV and homeless
services. We are dedicated to health equity through the provision
of culturally- and linguistically-competent services with a focus

currently looking for qualified candidates for our Medical Records
Supervisor role. This position reports to the Chief Operating
Officer and is a Regular, Full Time, Exempt role with a starting
annual salary range of $75,400 to $83,000 with full
benefits.Primary Objective:Under the supervision of the Chief
Operating Officer, the Medical Records Supervisor performs a
variety of tasks related to overseeing the maintenance of accurate
patient records. The occupant of this position requires exceptional
communication skills, the ability to multi-task, the ability to
maintain a high level of confidentiality, and intermediate computer
skills.Supervision 20%
- Hires and supervises employees in the medical records area:
assigns and schedules work; monitors work performance and provides
feedback. Handles personnel operations including: performance
appraisals, performance improvement plans, promotions, time off
requests and preparing time sheets.
- Ensures compliance with state and federal laws and regulations,
including HIPAA.
- Trains medical records staff from all MNHC sites on medical
records policies and procedures and electronic filing of
documents.
- Audits the work medical records work of all MNHC sites to
include: adherence to privacy requirements and accuracy of document
filing.Administration 20%
- Coordinates MNHC's participation in medical records audits
including HEDIS, health plan chart reviews, and government chart
reviews.
- Maintains filing categories, document types, and filing
security rights in the Electronic Health Record.
- Ensures timely transfer and purging of paper records.
- Provides technical assistance to staff on questions involving
forms, records procedures, and record retention.
- Serves as department liaison for outside parties with inquiries
regarding chart requests.
- Produces monthly reports on filing errors and patient
transfers. Provides other medical records reports as
requested.Other Medical Records Functions 60%
- Scans and files incoming records into patients' electronic
health records.
- Assists medical staff by answering inquiries and locating
patient records; retrieves requested data.
- Conducts chart analysis, identifies errors and coordinates
record investigations and reconciliations.
- Responsible for requesting medical records from outside
entities and completes follow up in accordance with established
protocols, policy and procedures established within the Medical
Records Department. Retrieves/receives the medical records via
mail, fax application or various facility electronic health records
applications (EHR), completes initial review of incoming documents,
and distributes to the appropriate party at MNHC.
- May perform special assignments and other related tasks as
assigned.Customer Service

- Associate degree in Medical Administration or equivalent work
experience in a field that develops the skills required for the

digit filing system.

- A minimum of two years of strong medical records experience
required. Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.Tools &

- Bilingual, English/Spanish preferred.Physical DemandsWhile
performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit
approximately 70% of the time, walk 10% of the time and stand 20%
of the time. The employee is frequently required to use hands and
fingers to type or handle, feel, and operate objects. The employee
is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The
employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The
employee is frequently required to speak and listen. Specific
vision abilities of this job include close vision, distance vision,
color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to
