The staff registered nurse (RN) is a licensed professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for planning, delegating, and coordinating the nursing care of a group of patients during a designated time frame utilizing the John Muir Medical Center Standards of Care, ANA's Standards of Practice and Professional Performance, and the California Nurse Practice Act, Title 22, and Title 16. The RN coordinates and provides care through the therapeutic use of self, nursing process, and the environment and technology, in partnership and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.Education:

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing RequiredExperience:
  • 6 Months Nursing - Acute Care Preferred
  • 2000 hours Nursing - Acute Care Must be Obtained Within last 3 years - Non-core Requirement
  • 1000 hours Nursing - Critical Care Must be Obtained within last 2 years - Non-core RequirementADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:For Critical Care Training Program only - In addition to minimum RN qualifications listed, must meet one of the following requirements:
    • Previous Critical Care experience (would bypass training)
    • Previous Critical Care Cross-Trained Experience within the last 2 years
    • Successful completion of a Critical Care Training Program within the last 3 yearsFor Critical Care New Grad Program only - In addition to minimum RN qualifications listed, must meet the following requirements: -
      • New Graduate -
      • 120 hour Preceptorship in Critical Care within the last 18 months.Certifications/Licensures:
        • RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing Required
        • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association -Required
        • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association -Required
        • Approved Cardiac Rhythm Test - Must Pass at time of hire (Required if hired after 11/15/2018) -Required
        • NIHSS National Institute of Health Stroke Scale - No Issuing Agency -Certification - Achieved by the end of orientation to the assigned area -Required
        • NIHSS National Institute of Health Stroke Scale - No Issuing Agency -Competency - Successful completion on an annual basis -Required
        • Approved Cardiac Rhythm Test - Internal Candidates Must Pass Prior to Applying for Position (must be proctored in Human Resources) - RequiredSkills:Non-Core:
