Job Description:
Our client, an IT Consulting and IT Services firm, is seeking an
Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller will be responsible
for financial reporting, maintaining the general ledger, and
supporting other accounting-related functions. This position
requires a strong understanding of accounting concepts and GAAP,
human resource administration payroll, the ability to lead, and the
ability to effectively interact at various levels. The ideal
candidate will have a strong drive to learn and grow along with the
company. The Assistant Controller will report to the CFO/COO. This
role is full-time, regular status role with benefits. It is hybrid
in Lafayette, CA and the candidate will start out in the office
three days a week and then eventually move to once a week.Essential
Duties and Responsibilities Including but not limited to:
- Supervise a bookkeeper and a purchasing manager.
- Support all month-end close activities in accordance with US
GAAP within the required deadlines, including analyzing and
reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing journal entries,
accruals, etc.
- Provide human resource administrative services to employees,
which will include payroll and onboarding/offboarding.
- Monthly balance sheet and income statement flux analysis.
- Coordinate with other team members/service providers on areas
such as collection of data for sales tax reporting, bi-weekly
payroll, A/R and collections, A/P and supplier correspondence, cash
flow reporting and income tax reporting.
- Optimize process for expense reimbursements and assure
information is correctly reflected in the general ledger.
- Maintain strong records and back-up documentation.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly and quarterly close
processes.
- Assist with preparation of budgets/forecasts.
- Oversee accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of
revenue and expenses.
- Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of
team.
- Assign duties and examine work for conformance to policies and
procedures.
- Prepare for financial audit, tax compliance and coordinate the
audit, tax and reporting processes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and
integrity of financial data.
- Prepare monthly financials, reconciliations, monthly journal
entries, metrics reporting, various detailed analyses and annual
budgets.
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial
statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Evaluate and advise on business operations including revenue
and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future
revenues.
- Manage full-cycle A/R, A/P.
- Manage and track fixed assets.Experience/Education
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. CPA designation is
preferred.
- 8-10+ years' relevant experience.
- 5+ years of progressive Human Resource administrative
experience.
- 3+ years of payroll experience.
- Minimum 2+ years' experience leading a team.
- Solid business acumen.
- Strong general and technical accounting background.
- Advanced Excel skills and proven ability to model full
financial statement budgets and forecasts (integrated P&L, BS,
and CF).
- Superior written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving and process improvement
skills.
- Able to work independently and self-motivate with a flexible
can-do attitude.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and
prioritize.
- High attention to detail while keeping in mind the big
picture.The salary range is based on paying competitively for the
size and industry. Individual pay decisions are based on a number
of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience
level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at
the company. The range shared is for the expectations as laid out
in the job description.Compensation range: $165 - $190KAdditional
benefits:
- 100% coverage of medical dental and vision benefits for the

contributions up to 4% of Salary.
