FranciscoAbout the TeamOpenAI Finance is responsible for ensuring
the organization is set up for success in pursuit of its mission.
The Compute & Infrastructure team shares financial insights and
partners with internal and external business stakeholders to manage
all aspects of cloud computing and platform infrastructure costs.
This team ensures operational scalability, commits to financial
accuracy, and empowers informed decision-making.About the RoleWe're
looking for an experienced accounting manager with a strong
foundation in accounting to join our team. You will have deep
subject matter expertise in applying technical concepts (ASC 842),
strong analytical skills, and attention to detail. In this role,
you will be a key player in driving the financial success of the
organization by ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
for a critical part of OpenAI's business.This role is based in San
Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office
per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.In this
role, you will:
- Own end-to-end financial accounting and reporting for compute &
infrastructure costs to support a timely month-end close.
- Drive improvements in the quality of numbers by working
cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to
improve the reliability of data.
- Build scalable processes and systems to support the scale-up of
the organization.
- Partner with other members of the accounting team to draft
technical accounting memos related to platform infrastructure
costs.
- Maintain hardware lease accounting schedules and record lease
modifications per ASC 842 when appropriate.
- Be the primary liaison with external auditors for compute &
platform infrastructure costs.You might thrive in this role if you
have:
- 6+ years of progressive experience in accounting, audit or
advisory services; operational experience following a transaction
start to finish in technology companies is strongly preferred.

ambiguous workflows into streamlined, automated, and reliable
processes.
