Position InformationTitle: Clinical Assistant / Associate ProfessorCampus: University of the PacificDepartment: Department of Preventive & Restorative DentistryPosting Number: F00929Full or Part Time: Full TimeOpen Date: 11/13/2024Close Date: Open Until FilledDays Per Week: 4Weeks Per Year: 52Position DescriptionPrimary Purpose:Reporting to the Chair of the Preventative and Restorative Dentistry Department, faculty at Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry engage in teaching in various formats, including didactic, simulation, and clinical activities, scholarship, research, and service. The successful candidate will oversee didactic, simulated, and clinical student learning experiences in the discipline.Essential Functions:I. Teaching:

• Deliver lectures, seminars, and preclinical simulation laboratory teaching to support the Preventive and Restorative Department's courses.II. Curriculum Design and Course Directorship:
  • Become a course director and design, lead, and manage Operative Dentistry and Fixed Prosthodontic courses.
  • Contribute to curriculum design and utilize outcomes assessment to improve curricular content.III. Patient Care:
    • Supervise student care of patients in the Dugoni School of Dentistry clinics.IV. Research/Scholarship:
      • Build research endeavors and demonstrate effort in scholarly publications.V. Collaboration and Service:
        • Engage broadly in school, university, and community service opportunities.Minimum QualificationsKnowledge of:
          • Dental school educational processes.
          • Operative, Prosthodontic, and Restorative information and techniques.Ability to:
            • Produce professional written reports and correspondence.Experience:
              • Minimum 2 years teaching/clinical practice experience.
              • Clinical experience in all Restorative and Prosthodontic clinical procedures.Licenses/Education:
                • DDS / DMD or international equivalent.
                • Valid CPR certification.
                • Hold or be eligible for a California Dental License.Working Conditions:
                  • Position is full-time, 4 days per week.
                  • Requires attendance to weekend/evening events and meetings.Preferred QualificationsExperience:
                    • Experience teaching predoc students in a dental school.
                    • Experience in curriculum design and course directing.Ability to:
                      • Communicate effectively with a diverse population.
                      • Work independently and in a group setting.
                      • Maintain confidentiality of information.Other:
