Job Description:
This OpportunityWSP is seeking an experienced Senior
Environmental Planner/Project Manager. This hybrid position can be
based in our Oakland, San Francisco, San Jose, or Sacramento
offices.The successful candidate would join our Northern California
Planning team, helping to grow our environmental planning presence,
expanding our pool of public and private sector clients, manage
contracts and task orders for large environmental planning
programs, and coordinate with our team and subcontractors to
complete environmental compliance processes and documentation.Your
Impact
- Grow the environmental planning practice for the San Francisco
Bay Area and Sacramento regions.
- Provide environmental planning leadership to the Northern
California Planning team.
- Engage and strategize with environmental planning counterparts
in Southern California.
- Assist and/or lead projects, business development, and staff
mentoring to support our thriving team.
- Ability to work effectively and independently in a NEPA/CEQA
project manager role.
- Primarily lead environmental clearance and compliance work on
roadway transportation and other infrastructure projects.
- Responsible for subject matter expert innovation and
administration; ensuring corporate compliance with all Local,
State, and Federal environmental regulations; providing pragmatic
direction to address current and future environmental planning
challenges.
- Serves as one of the planning discipline's lead
representatives/liaison to various external entities including
Federal, State, and Local Agencies, Clients, Subcontractors,
industry-related groups, and community entities.
- Demonstrated experience with CEQA/NEPA and related federal
acts, including Endangered Species Act, National Historic
Preservation Act, Coastal Zone Management Act, etc.
- Actively foster compliance with applicable Federal, State, and
Local environmental laws, policies, and regulatory
requirements.
- Conduct business development including establishing project
leads, leading and participating in proposals, and negotiating
contracts.
- Lead larger-scale, complex environmental planning projects
ensuring contributors know their responsibilities and deadlines,
preparing and overseeing project budgets, and supervising
subcontractors and employees.
- Manage multi-disciplinary project teams in all phases of
execution and delivery of siting, impact assessment, and permitting
for assigned projects.
- Support the overall long-term strategy and growth of
Environmental Planning work for WSP in assigned areas.
- Assist with the preparation of an annual update to business
tactical action plans.
- Ensure planning discipline certifications and accreditations
are developed and continuously improved.
- Conduct needs analyses and client value surveys to align the
planning discipline's function with business strategy.
- Oversee the use of topographic maps, aerial photographs, GPS
data, and other visualization tools to determine project areas and
assess environmental impacts.
- Develop a client base for providing high-level Environmental
Planning services and identify additional business development
opportunities.
- Manage and provide performance guidance to assigned staff.
- Remain current in the latest environmental planning practices
and regulations.
- Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines to
provide "trusted advisor" service and solutions for clients.
- Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company
resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business
needs.Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning,
Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
(or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of Environmental Planning experience in a corporate
environment.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant environmental laws,
regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping
requirements.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication
skills.
- Tactical lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with
attention to detail.
- Strong collaborator with the ability to elicit cooperation from
a variety of sources.
- Advanced proficiency with office automation and communication
software.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and
compliance with health policies.
- Strong ability to adapt to change and demonstrate
flexibility.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific
requirements.Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree is preferred.
- Essential professional licensure/certification.
- Strong experience in managing the review and approval of
documents and discipline-specific deliverables in a multi-project

$97,100-$173,140. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more
or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and
