About the role

Under general supervision, calibrates, maintains, and performs minor repairs for scientific instrumentation, including liquid chromatography systems, gas chromatographs, spectrophotometers, and laboratory data acquisition systems.

This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments.

What you'll do

  • Disassemble, inspect, clean, repair, calibrate, test, and perform periodic maintenance of specialty equipment, systems, and controls.
  • Operate electronic test equipment, including multimeters, frequency generators and counters, galvanometers, digital logic probes, and oscilloscopes.
  • Perform complex repairs or coordinate the removal of instruments/devices needing overhaul during scheduled maintenance.
  • Record and report abnormal functions or out-of-tolerance conditions of equipment and initiates corrective action and documentation.
  • Reinstall, test, evaluate, calibrate, and maintain instruments or devices upon completion of repairs.
  • Locate part sources, estimates costs, and prepares requisitions.
  • Document daily records of inspections, maintenance activity, repairs, and other work performed within approved guidelines and procedures.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors regarding repairs covered by maintenance agreements. Communicate with customer staff and outside contractors in the calibration, repair, and operation of equipment, as necessary.
  • May troubleshoot/service or resolve problems while performing unscheduled work.
  • Write equipment, maintenance, and calibration procedures.
  • No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. Coordinates and assigns tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.

    What you'll need

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Associate's Degree in a Technical field is desired.
    • Minimum of 5 years of related instrumentation and calibration experience and/or training.
    • Working understanding of FDA regulations, GMP's, and GLP's preferred.
    • This job requires an emphasis on HPLC/UPLC equipment, purifications systems and liquid handlers.
    • Possess an in-depth knowledge of the technical requirements for performing analytical service procedures, instrument qualifications, and calibration tasks.
    • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
    • Valid driver's license required.
    • Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions.
    • Short correspondence with client and support staff and the ability to understand client concerns.
    • Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.
    • Proficiency with computer programs such as CMMS (Maximo), Microsoft Office Suite, BMS (yokogawa), 4-20 mA instruments.
    • Must be physically able to perform basic tasks which includes ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

The minimum salary for the LIS/LTS Technician position is $70,000 annually [or $33.65 per hour] and the maximum salary for the LIS/LTS Technician position is $84,000 annually [or $40.38 per hour]. The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on their skills, qualifications, and experience. This role will provide the following benefits: 401(K), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, and Vision insurance.
