amongst our employees.JOB DESCRIPTIONROLE SUMMARYUnder the
direction of the Director of Administration and the Director of
Human Resources, the Regional Human Resources Manager performs a
variety of recruiting and generalist duties for the firm's four
California offices (Los Angeles, Century City, San Francisco, and
Silicon Valley), including the interviewing and selection of
candidates, conducting new hire orientation, evaluating the
workflow of legal administrative assistant pairings, performance
evaluations, and performance management. Responsible for
coordination with Payroll and Benefits for the overall
administration of salary information and communication of
information regarding health, welfare, wellness, and retirement
plans. The successful candidate will be able to execute, interpret,
and implement local, California, and Federal labor laws in
compliance with Alston & Bird standards, have strong organizational
skills, meticulous attention to detail and accuracy; excellent
written and oral communication skills, and the ability to multitask
and thrive under tight deadlines.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT
LIMITED TO:
- Must understand and apply Federal, State, and local CA
employment laws.
- Monitor and coordinate appropriate legal administrative
assistant staffing ratios and workflow.
- Confer with attorneys, paralegals, and legal administrative
assistants regarding assignments, performance problems, and need
for additional training.
- Monitor and approve administrative overtime worked by legal
administrative assistants.
- Manage all aspects of recruiting including posting positions to
the Alston & Bird website, reviewing resumes, conducting &
coordinating the interview process, processing background checks &
references, testing, sending an offer letter, and receiving final
approval for hire.
- Coordinate & conduct New Hire Orientation for new hires for all
California offices.
- Work with broader HR team on a wide variety of global HR
initiatives and projects across multiple HR disciplines, including,
but not limited to: compensation, diversity and inclusion,
governance and policy, change management, talent management,
performance management, HRIS, and acquisition integration.
- Work closely with the firm-wide Benefits Department in Atlanta
to provide information to lawyers and staff in the California
offices to ensure that benefit programs are administered in
accordance with established procedure.
- Conduct exit interviews, as assigned, for administrative
staff.
- Coordinate educational workshops including dates, topics, and
tracking of attendance.
- Manage the annual professional staff review process for the
California offices.
- Attend HR department meetings.
- Recognize potential legal issues (e.g., sexual harassment,
discrimination, termination) and discuss with appropriate resources
for direction and guidance.
- Work closely with the firm-wide Administrative Officers,
Directors, and Managers to ensure that firm-wide practices and
procedures are followed.
- Serve as a member of the Firm's Executive Staff.
- Maintain all employee employment records and files in an
organized and accurate manner.
- Manage timekeeping activities for the office, including
ensuring all timecards are approved, answering questions about
timekeeping, and coordinating with Payroll, as necessary.SKILLS
NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Minimum of 5 years' previous HR experience in a law firm or
professional services setting or a combination of experience and
education.
- Previous supervisory experience of 3-5 years in a related
environment, preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational
skills.
- Demonstrates teamwork, creativity, a desire for continuous
improvement, and commitment to the profession.
- Commitment to providing superior customer service.
- Ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of
the firm.
- Thorough organizational skills for prioritizing workload and
recruiting efforts.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work under pressure,
and deal with demanding deadlines; strong attention to detail and
team-oriented attitude.
- Thorough knowledge of Firm systems and procedures to
efficiently meet Firm personnel demands.
- Advanced technical skills including prior experience with
recruiting software and HRIS systems.EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- PHR, PHRca, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification strongly

range in CA for this position is $150,000 - $170,000 and represents
the firm's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at
the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate
will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not
limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, and
