Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Program Officer for an incredible nonprofit foundation focused on addressing the global climate crisis. This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity based out of San Francisco, CA that offers a hybrid schedule allowing for flexibility.In this role, the Program Officer will be responsible for overseeing the full cycle of the foundation's grantmaking processes by leading grantmaking, refining program strategy over time, ensuring impactful implementation and evaluation, strengthening relationships with partners, and developing new opportunities. The responsibilities of this multi-faceted role will include the following:RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Opportunity to work closely with the Managing Director
  • Oversee a portfolio of high performing organizations working at the local, state and national level dedicated to building public support to urge policymakers and the private sector to implement positive and equitable climate action
  • Manage grants portfolio through entire grant lifecycle, including undertaking periodic reviews of progress with grantees, conducting site visits as needed, and tracking portfolio progress
  • Represent the foundation in public settings and articulate the goals of the Climate Action program to key internal and external audiences
  • Convene meetings of stakeholders, including grant recipients, subject matter experts, co-funders, and others, to explore, compare, and coordinate strategies
  • Manage social media activity and maintain up to date website content
  • Author and distribute monthly newsletterQUALIFICATIONS
    • Undergraduate and advanced degree in a relevant field preferred
    • 10+ years of professional, program relevant experience
    • Demonstrated impact and deep knowledge of climate, energy, movement building, or related environmental and community issues
    • Experience working with high-impact teams; implementing campaigns and/or programs, including working with diverse communities
    • Awareness and understanding of social movements and emerging issues within environmental, social, and economic justice movements
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills
