DescriptionChronicle Books is searching for a Subsidiary Rights
Assistant who will take responsibility for a wide range of tasks
that aid in maximizing sales and revenue of Chronicle Books to
subsidiary rights customers throughout the world. Subsidiary rights
include but are not limited to translation, reprint, audio,
electronic, merchandising, ancillary, and performance.Key
Responsibilities: The person in this role will support Subsidiary
Rights Managers' sales efforts by handling the submission processes
for both foreign rights and domestic rights, managing the workflow
of contracts, updating the sub-rights database, and providing
support to the Subsidiary Rights team. They will also track
payments from foreign partners, manage receipt of author copies for
both foreign and domestic licenses, manage the sub-rights general
inbox as well as receipt of advances, submit warehouse orders, and
provide general Subsidiary Rights departmental support. Lastly,
this role will involve tracking rights availability and overdue
royalties and payments, updating the subsidiary rights archive,
providing reports on customer submission responses, and assisting
with foreign book fair and domestic sales trip preparation.Hiring
Salary Range: $22.84 - $26.27/hr. This range represents the
anticipated low and high end of the expected salary for this
position and will be determined by factors including, but not
limited to, an applicant's education, experience, knowledge,
skills, abilities, and geographic location as well as internal
equity and alignment with market data. This position is eligible

Employees at Chronicle Books will follow a regular hybrid schedule
in our San Francisco office of at least three (3) in-office days
per week and up to five (5) in-office days per week, depending on

a highly motivated, confident individual, and it requires excellent
organizational and administrative skills, exemplary attention to

computer savvy and have a keen interest in subsidiary rights and
publishing. An interest in negotiating, reviewing, and proofing
contracts is also required, plus an ability to communicate clearly
and write persuasively. Previous sales and/or book publishing
experience preferred.
