About the RoleThe Data Governance function plays a critical role
in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, discoverability and
accessibility of data across the company. Our mission is to
implement scalable governance frameworks that enable trustworthy
data usage across analytics, reporting, and operations. As a core
member of the team, you will help define and implement data
governance policies, enhance metadata management, and ensure
compliance with data privacy regulations. You will collaborate with
data engineering, analytics, compliance, risk and product teams to
drive best practices in data management.You will act as a force of
change and improvement across the organization, with a particular
focus on data systems and processes. Your expertise will help shape
team roadmaps and strategies as the company evolves and builds new
products and services.The base salary offered for this role and
level of experience will begin at $140,670 and up to $195,400.
Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive
equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be
higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and
experience.In this role, you can expect to
- Define and implement data governance policies and best
practices for data quality, discoverability, and access
control.
- Lead programs and projects that move the company forward in our
data governance and management goals.
- Own and enhance the data catalog, ensuring accurate
documentation of metadata, lineage, and business definitions.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., SOX, CCPA)
and internal data privacy policies.
- Develop and implement processes for data stewardship, ensuring
high-quality and well-documented datasets.
- Partner with analytics and product teams to ensure governed,
discoverable, and reliable data assets.
- Contribute to governance-related automation efforts, such as
metadata harvesting and automated lineage tracking.
- Develop metrics for measuring and reporting various aspects of
Chime's data governance efforts.
- Establish data governance and management operating rhythms
within the Data organization and across partner teams.To thrive in
this role, you have
- 7+ years professional experience and 3+ years of experience in
data governance, data management, or as a data Technical Program
Manager.
- Hands-on experience working with data cataloging tools (e.g.,
Alation, Collibra, Atlan) and metadata management frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of data privacy and compliance regulations
(GDPR, CCPA, SOX).
- Experience working with Snowflake or other cloud data
warehouses.
- Familiarity with data lineage, data quality monitoring, and
data access management.
- Experience collaborating with engineering teams to define and
enforce governance policies.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex
governance concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.A
