Accountant plans, oversees, coordinates, and monitors a significant
accounting functional area. In this role they may assign, direct,
review, and evaluate the work of accounting support staff; and will
perform complex professional accounting work relative to fiscal
procedures. They will show initiative, be able to routinely problem
solve and take ownership of their responsibilities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures month-end closing on the 10th of each month for revenue
and expenditure variance analysis, fixed assets, capital
expenditures, and related entity transactions.
- Analyzes transactions to ensure the accuracy and integrity of
financial records.
- Prepares weekly cash report and monitors positive pay
transactions daily.
- Reviews and posts payroll and related entries timely onto Sage
Intacct and reconciles payroll liabilities semi-monthly.
- Analyzes balance sheet accounts by creating monthly schedules
reconciling to the general ledger.
- Reviews and verifies accurate and complete accounting of
revenue and fundraising support.
- Reviews and verifies accurate and complete accounting of
intercompany transactions between entities.
- Validates expenses are charged to appropriate line items
allowed by contractual obligations.
- Implements proper accounting methods and policies, adhering to
fiscal policies and funding requirements.
- Improves systems and procedures and initiates corrective
actions.
- Maintains accounting, billing records, and contract compliance
calendar in coordination with the Contracts Fiscal Manager.
- Leads annual 1099 MISC/NEC tax reporting.
- Submits annual state compliance reports (e.g., hazardous waste,
environmental fees, welfare tax benefit exemption, sales taxes on
UBI).
- Prepares reconciliation for all bank accounts and
obligations.
- Supports the Controller with day-to-day supervision of all
accounting transactions, including invoices and expenses, deposits
and receipts, billings, and collections.
- Prepares journal entries for accruals and deferrals as needed
(e.g., salaries, PTO, depreciation, insurance, security rent
deposits, contract advances, settlements).
- Reconciles monthly health benefits and records transactions to
the general ledger.
- Records monthly investment transactions to the general
ledger.
- Supports the Controller and Senior Finance Director in
quarterly fiscal management training and continuous process
improvements.
- Supports the Controller in all contract reviews and
audits.
- May perform other projects and tasks as assigned.Minimum
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- At least 5-7 years of progressive working experience as a
full-cycle accountant, with experience managing an operating budget
of $20MM+.
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting
Principles (GAAP).
- Strong background in general ledger accounting, with
demonstrated ability to perform analysis for ledger accounts and
create supporting schedules.
- Experience in accounts payable or receivables, excellent
leadership skills, and strong systems proficiency.
- Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with effective time
management and decision-making skills to successfully oversee staff
workflow.
- Experience managing a small team of accountants.
- Proactive in project preparation and demonstrates timely
responsiveness.
- Adherence to the highest professional and ethical standards at
all times.
- Proven ability to lead the month-end close process with a
team.
- Advanced computer skills in Excel and proficiency in accounting
software and databases such as Concur, Adaptive, and/or
Intacct.Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000 a yearAt GLIDE, we ensure
