Lime is looking for a talented Mechanical Engineer to help develop the next generation of lightweight electric vehicles and micromobility infrastructure. We design safe and compelling hardware to provide affordable and reliable transportation for cities around the world. By designing and operating our own hardware, we have a strategic advantage to provide a superior user experience. Lime is expanding our engineering team to execute on a multi-year product roadmap vision.This role is based in the SF Bay Area where Lime has its San Francisco Hardware Development Lab. It is a hybrid role, but it will require you to be in the office as needed for prototyping and testing, which are a regular part of our work.What You'll Do:

  • Help define, design, and deliver breakthrough lightweight electric vehicles and/or shared micromobility infrastructure (e.g. battery packs or docking hardware)
  • Own the development of subsystems with moderate complexity and part count
  • Create detailed and elegant mechanical designs in CAD
  • Build prototypes in our metalworking and 3D print shop
  • Collaborate with our Operations team and strive for simplicity and robustness in our designs
  • Devise tests and proof of concepts to demonstrate and validate new ideas and drive data-based decision making
  • Define, create and release technical documentation using GD&T best practices and our product lifecycle management system
  • Brainstorm creative solutions to mechanical, manufacturing, and reliability problems
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams and external suppliers around the world
  • Support product builds at Asian CMs (likely 2-3 trips/year)About You:
  • BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering (or similar), or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of mechanical design work experience and have experienced the full product development cycle
  • Ability to work independently on a daily basis but will regularly conduct design reviews and incorporate team feedback.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and best practices (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Familiarity designing plastic and metal parts for a range of manufacturing processes
  • Experience conducting tolerance analyses and creating engineering drawings using GD&T
  • Comfortable in a fast paced environment and adapting quickly to new requirements
  • Desire to work hands-on to prototype and validate new designs
  • Curious, collaborative, and hardworking
  • Excited about the future of MicromobilityPreferred Qualifications:
  • Bike or other vehicle industry experience
  • Skilled at FEA simulation
  • Talented at CAD surface modeling
  • Experience working with overseas suppliers
  • Proficiency in Mandarin
  • Welding experience
