The program operates in 11 states and offers two models: the ONE-TO-ONE program, which pairs an adult volunteer with a youth for 12 months, and the GROUP program, which matches two adult volunteers with eight youths for structured sessions in fall, spring, and summer. The Associate National Director is responsible for understanding both program models and supporting staff in their implementation.Reporting to the YMCA National Director of Reach & Rise Mentoring, the Associate National Director provides technical assistance and direct support to 20 YMCA Association Directors. This role ensures that the program maintains fidelity to its model, supports mentor training, and assists with risk management efforts. The position also involves problem-solving, training, and curriculum adjustments as needed.The Associate National Director must possess strong interpersonal skills to provide individual and group coaching, training, and clinical support. This role ensures that program goals and objectives are met while clearly communicating and enforcing program expectations and requirements. Additionally, the position upholds confidentiality and risk management standards.Job Responsibilities

  • Program Development & Implementation
    • Understand the principles of therapeutic mentoring and the components of the Reach & Rise Mentoring Program.
    • Provide guidance on how the program can better reflect the cultural diversity of participating children and families.
    • Mentor Recruitment, Training, & Support
      • Provide training and support in mentor recruitment, screening, training, matching, and ongoing match support.
      • Clinical Support & Compliance
        • Offer clinical support, including crisis intervention, development of growth plans, and family counseling, to Association Directors.
        • Ensure compliance with mandated reporting requirements.
        • Assist with data collection and reporting.
        • Manage and oversee budget development.
        • Collaboration & Relationship Management
          • Collaborate with YMCA partners to maintain positive and consistent relationships.
          • Facilitate conference calls and webinars with Association Directors as needed.
          • Leadership & Staff Development
            • Exhibit leadership in mission advancement, relationship-building, operational management, and staff development.Minimum Qualifications
              • Master's degree in social work or counseling required.
              • Minimum of two years of experience working with families facing challenges such as crisis situations, homelessness, or systemic disadvantages, including prior Reach & Rise experience.
              • Knowledge and experience in child abuse prevention best practices.
              • Experience supporting underserved communities, incarcerated youth, and justice-involved families.
              • Familiarity with ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) models.
              • Ability to coordinate and implement programming while supervising staff and ensuring adherence to program goals and funding requirements.
              • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with experience writing service plans, assessments, and reports.
              • Experience in government or nonprofit settings focused on programs serving low-income communities.
              • Ability to facilitate diverse and inclusive groups, workshops, and events.
              • Proficiency in computer applications and data management.
              • Strong relationship-building skills with community stakeholders and program participants.
              • Experience in data collection and reporting.Preferred Qualifications
                • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or similar clinical background.
                • Bilingual skills are a plus.
                • Knowledge of cognitive-behavioral approaches.
                • Familiarity with federal grant reporting and protocols.Work Environment and Physical DemandsThe work environment for this position is primarily office-based with regular virtual meetings and occasional travel for conferences, training, and site visits. The role requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and engaging in video conferencing. Some lifting of materials up to 25 pounds may be required. Flexibility in schedule may be necessary to accommodate various time zones and program needs. The position involves frequent communication with staff, volunteers, and stakeholders, requiring strong verbal and written communication skills. This role may occasionally require attendance at evening or weekend events.Disclaimers
