more information, please see .Position Summary:IDEAYA Biosciences
is seeking an experienced biopharmaceutical lawyer for the position
of Vice President, Legal and Compliance, reporting directly to the
General Counsel of the company. This role will primarily support
the Company's commercial function and work very closely with the
Chief Commercial Officer and the commercial team. This role will
also be responsible for the expansion and continued implementation
of the company's compliance program. This role requires a strategic
leader with a deep understanding of the biotechnology industry,
specifically in oncology. The VP will work with the General Counsel
to partner with cross-functional teams to ensure the company
operates in compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical
standards while driving operational efficiency to support the
company's growth. The ideal candidate will enjoy working
collaboratively with the business across various departments and
with senior commercial, scientific, regulatory, and finance
leaders.This position is based in our South San Francisco
headquarter offices and required to be onsite four days per week
per our company policy.What you'll do:
- Provide legal support, advice and counselling on a broad set of
healthcare, commercial and general corporate matters in support of
pre-commercial and commercial product launches, including
pre-approval activities, marketing and sales strategies,
advertising and promotional materials and programs, disease
awareness activities, HCP interactions, patient programs, market
access and reimbursement.
- Provide legal guidance on regulatory compliance related to
pharmaceutical products, including FDA regulations, pricing, drug
distribution, anti-kickback and false claims statutes, market
access, and reimbursement.
- Work with the business to devise strategies and tactics
associated with commercial activities that will ensure that the
business is operating in a compliant and ethical manner.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing,
sales, R&D, HR and finance to support business
initiatives.
- Partner with cross department teams to develop a deep
understanding of project technology, identify patentable inventions
through regular interactions with project teams, and implement IP
protection strategies.
- Lead the company compliance program and provide training to
company employees on compliance policies and procedures.
- With the General Counsel, provide advice, counsel and guidance
to senior management, CEO and the Board on legal and compliance
matters related to the commercial business.
- With the General Counsel, manage litigation matters related to
the commercial business.
- Retain and manage outside legal counsel and other legal
vendors.
- As a senior person in the Legal Department, provide guidance
and counsel to the General Counsel in managing the department.
- Provide legal training to the company.
- Stay current and advise the company on legal trends impacting
the pharmaceutical industry and the oncology sector, in
particular.Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years practicing as an attorney, with at least 3
years of experience in the oncology or biotech industry, preferably
in-house experience.
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA credited law school and a member in
good standing of the California Bar, or the ability to qualify as
California Registered In-House Counsel.
- Law firm or in-house experience in counseling pharmaceutical
companies on legal and regulatory matters affecting the commercial
business.
- Proven track record developing and implementing legal
strategies with demonstrated success supporting the launching and
commercialization of pharmaceutical drug products.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively in
a fast-paced start up environment with internal teams and to
respond in a timely and effective manner.
- Must have strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret
complex legal information.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and
attention to detail.The expected salary range for this role that is
based in our South San Francisco, California office is $308,635 -
