We are looking for an experienced commercial procurement attorney who has excellent judgment, loves to negotiate deals, analyze complex legal issues, and find creative solutions. We seek candidates who enjoy working independently, are highly resourceful, have exceptional communications skills, and balance competing demands in a positive and client-friendly manner. We want collaborators who will help structure deals with business counterparts, and hopefully contribute some humor to our legal slack channel. • Structure, draft and negotiate a wide variety of inbound technology, vendor and purchasing contracts, including professional service agreements, SaaS and on-prem software agreements, data center agreements, IT and equipment purchasing agreements, data protection addendums, programmatic advertising agreements, and temporary staffing and recruiting agreements.
• Identify, research, analyze, and work with cross-functional teams to address potential risks related to data privacy, AI/ML, intellectual property, software licensing, information security, and labor and employment laws.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to help streamline, automate, and scale The Trade Desk's global procurement processes.
• Continually improve our templates, playbooks, and legal processes to help us scale globally with a consistent but locally relevant approach.
• Provide practical advice on legal issues and risks, complex agreement structures, and company policies in a risk-tolerant, but compliance-oriented environment.
• Exercise strong judgement to advise The Trade Desk team and contribute to the overall success of the business.Who you are:
  • 8+ years of experience working in an internationally/nationally recognized law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Admitted to practice in the location in which you reside.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Significant experience in negotiating complex technology procurement contracts and leading legal negotiations with large global companies.
  • Background or experience with privacy law, intellectual property law, employment law, artificial intelligence, SaaS, and advertising technology is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with internal and external constituents at all levels.
  • Experience managing outside counsel is a plus.
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills and ability to thrive in fast paced environment, while juggling competing, time-sensitive demands.
  • Strong business sense and ability to exercise good business judgement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (sense of humor is a big plus).Note: Interns are not eligible for variable incentive awards such as stock-based compensation, retirement plan, vacation, tuition reimbursement or parental leave.Compensation: The base salary range for this role is $149,900-$274,900 USD.
