*Note: This position requires presence in our San Francisco office
location 4 days per week; Lambda's designated work from home day is
currently Tuesday.
What You'll Do
- Own end-to-end sales and use tax compliance, encompassing data,
processes, liaising with service firms and advisors, tax return
review, timely payments, GL Recon, and documentation.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize sales and use tax
compliance for the organization including bringing tax return
preparation in-house.
- Conduct regular reviews of sales and use tax processes to
identify areas of risks, improvement and implement necessary
changes.
- Collaborate with and provide guidance to cross-functional
teams, such as finance, legal, and operations, to ensure accurate
reporting and documentation of transactions.
- Manage and oversee sales and use tax audits and notices,
including preparation of supporting documentation and representing
the organization during audit proceedings.
- Assist with VAT compliance to ensure proper reporting and
recovery
- Assist with property tax compliance and planning, gross
receipts tax filing, annual state reporting, franchise tax
accruals, and payments to various tax authorities.You
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
CPA or other relevant professional certifications are
preferred.
- Proven experience in sales and use tax compliance, preferably
in a managerial or supervisory role.
- 3-5+ years of related experience in public accounting or in the
internal tax department of a US multi-state corporation
- In-depth knowledge of US and International sales and use tax
laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability
to interpret complex tax regulations and apply them to practical
scenarios.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to
manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate
with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Proficient in using tax software and ERP systems for sales and
use tax compliance and reporting.
- Ability to adapt to changing regulations and industry practices
and effectively communicate their impact on the organization.
- Strong leadership abilities to guide and mentor team members,
as well as drive process improvements.
- High ethical standards and the ability to handle confidential
and sensitive information with integrity.Nice to Have
- Experience in the machine learning or computer hardware
industry.
- Netsuite experience (or other large ERP system experience) and
Avalara
- Advanced knowledge with Microsoft and Google ApplicationsSalary
Range InformationBased on market data and other factors, the annual
salary range for this position is $100,000-$148,000. However, a
salary higher or lower than this range may be appropriate for a
candidate whose qualifications differ meaningfully from those
listed in the job description.
